Is 3 hours on a Saturday worth it?

Often times we hear people talk about "CPR training" this or "First Aid Training" that. It's generally in the context of "I had to for my job" or "I got it because someone at home might need it". But the rest of us generally sit back thinking "do I really need to spend money to spend 3 hours in a CPR class on a Saturday morning?".

Honestly? It's a really good question. One that seldom gets the attention it deserves. Growing up, depending on what we do, we take these classes as requirements for different things. Maybe boy scouts or girl scouts, school, summer camp, job as a life guard or whatever the reason may be. Then we aren't required to take it and forget the importance it has to those around us. Sometimes we are the only person standing between someone living or dying, and it's generally not at the moment we expected.

The next time you ask yourself if it's worth the time, follow it up with this question. If you were having a heart attack, or needed first aid...would you want that person close to you to know what they were doing until help arrived?
